Understanding the importance of sales and marketing alignment

Generating leads consistently is only work half done. In the traditional marketing strategy, the two departments – sales and marketing working independently of each other might have worked because this alignment was tedious. However, with B2B marketing shifting to account-based marketing, aligning sales and marketing have become one of the most important factors to ensure consistent and efficient sales funnel optimization.
According to Blend, highly aligned organizations can achieve 38% lead to sales conversion rates while misaligned organizations, meanwhile, fail to follow up on 50% of marketing leads, and 79% of them never turn into sales.

What happens when sales and marketing are not in sync?

Marketing and sales departments often set their strategies, and goals, separately from each other. This creates tension amongst the personnel at the very basic level and potential revenue loss on the extreme. In fact, sales and marketing misalignment is the number one reason why an organization’s annual revenue stagnates or, worse, declines.
One of the most common proofs of this misalignment is when you hear your sales reps complaining about the lead quality and in return, marketing reps accusing sales of poor follow-up. This means you are wasting your time and budget without understanding the underlying problem.

Why should aligning sales and marketing be your top priority?

The traditional buyer journey is seeing a drastic change due to the easy availability of information online. Potential buyers now prefer scouting for the information online rather than engaging with salespeople. This changing buyer behavior has driven a shift in sales and marketing strategies at all levels of the funnel.
This demands that both the departments need to be ready to respond to the leads at any stage, any time, and of course, satisfactorily.
According to their CMO’s Agenda report, Aberdeen Group found that by effectively lining up sales and marketing, you can:

  • Generate 32% higher revenue
  • Retain 36% more customers
  • Achieve 38% higher win rates

When sales and marketing are in alignment, they know more and better, which in turn will reflect in the overall revenue numbers. Not only that, but it can also:

  • Streamline fragmented or distorted customer journey
  • Make segmentation and nurturing efficient
  • Improve the quality of the leads for sales to follow
  • Give insights into which leads to market to
  • Show potential of leads turning into opportunities and then to closures
  • Offer insights into the performance of sources and content
  • Share historical data about leads at different stages

Sales and marketing alignment is so vital now that there is a new term for it – Smarketing. HubSpot defines Smarketing as “an alignment between your sales and marketing teams created through frequent and direct communication between the two”. Syncing sales and marketing will help you uncover unique insights into the sales process, optimize your sales and marketing strategies, close better deals faster, and boost up revenues.

What is Microsoft Azure?

As Microsoft states – Azure is an expanding set of cloud computing services to help the organization meet its business challenges. It gives them the freedom to develop, deploy, and manage the application on the massive global network with the help of preferred tools and frameworks.
Here are some numerical facts about Azure you should know to trust your cloud

azure features

Azure tends to be less expensive, reliable, flexible, and more secure than on-premise servers. With the Azure cloud, maintenance downtime, theft, or damage is almost next to existent. One can scale up or down the resources as per the need. Also, you typically pay only for the services you use, which provides a level of ease and cost-control that’s almost impossible to achieve with on-site infrastructure.
Now let’s review how it can work for you?

Security and Backup

Cloud means security. And, Azure offers a proactive approach to security, compliance, and unparalleled privacy measures. As an organization, you need to choose a BCDR strategy that keeps your data safe, your apps and workloads run properly when unwanted downtime occurs.
BCDR strategy contributes to two services namely Azure Site Recovery and Azure backup which protects the data at both VM level and Site level.
Azure Site Recovery: When an outage occurs you are required to run your site, services or applications on Azure or a secondary location
Azure Backup: Restore your data or infrastructure to the existing or a new location when you have a loss or corrupted data

BCDR Strategy

Host and develop apps

Build, develop, and deploy your favorite web as well as mobile apps on a highly secure cloud platform. With Azure app service, you not only get the power of Azure but, it also makes those apps load balance, auto scale, and automated management.
It also provides robust capabilities such as built-in development operations, continuous integration with Visual Studio Online, GitHub, staging, production support, and automatic patching. With App Service, you pay for the Azure compute resources you use.

azure apps

Azure global infrastructure

You can increase the reach of your on-premise datacentre with the most scalable, trusted, and reliable cloud. Azure lets you deliver services at the scale you need to reach your customers and partners, wherever they are.
Also, keep your data safeguard with the Azure Active Directory, a universal platform to manage and secure identities. It helps protect your business from 99.9% cybersecurity attacks with single sign-on and multifactor authentication methods.

azure global

Azure with IoT

With Microsoft Azure IoT services, you can monitor assets to improve efficiencies, drive operational performance to enable innovation, and leverage advanced data analytics to transform your company with new business models and revenue streams.
Moreover, with the help of Azure IoT hub, you can transfer some of your cloud workloads such as AI, Azure, third party services or even your business logic to IoT edge device. This will enable your device to spend lesser time communicating with the cloud, react more quickly to local changes, and operate reliably even in extended offline periods.

Azure IoT

When hosting multiple events where users have to purchase a pass, it is quite advisable to integrate a secure payment gateway with your event website. People are digitally live now, so they relish to have a simple online payment method rather than being in a queue to reserve the passes.
It can process payments promptly, securely, and efficiently. Payment gateways with Dynamics 365 also allow you to process your credit card hassle-free. Beyond this, it benefits from payment automation, capturing customer data, issue receipts, and can integrate with various banking services. Features of Payment Gateway

Features of payment gateway

1. Time-Saving

As the payment is processed automatically, this saves plenty of time of workers and makes them available to be utilized in some different tasks without enough bothering about the payment. As the manual entry lessens, it also decreases errors.

2. Manages cash-flow

For any organization, irrespective of small or medium size, it is essential to be aware of the incoming cash flow. With the help of payment gateway, you can have real-time information on the amount of cash you have, which in the manual transaction chances of mis-calculation increases.

Top 7 Features of Email Marketing with Dynamics 365

Driving an email marketing campaign is one of the significant marketing activities a business supports. Basic email marketing solutions offer the ability to build a mailing list, quickly create emails from templates, and send emails at scale. These solutions provide limited information such as bounces, opens, and click-through rates, but these are just the inception of what’s possible.
Basic email marketing solutions are just that—basic. If you want to increase the influence of your email marketing campaigns, you need to choose a solution that delivers the information you need, when and how you need it. That is when Email Marketing with Dynamics 365 comes in.
Below are the benefits which make this solution defeat the other third-party solutions:

Ready to use:

Like many email marketing service providers, Dynamics 365 for Marketing also has the facility to drag and drop design tools to simplify the content creation. Moreover, this tool also gives you the collection of in-built templates for your campaign to choose from with less time and designing efforts. In short, It is a simple, no-coder, easy drag-and-drops content designer.

HTML Editor:

What if you want some unique field in your campaign? Here is when HTML editor comes for your rescue. With the help of an in-built HTML editor, you can design your template as per your need hassle-free.

Each message is essential:

Emailers aren’t the standard messages which include To and Bcc fields. The long list of recipients is often difficult to manage and seldom end up in the Spam box. In Dynamics 365 for Marketing, you can personalize each message for each recipient which is designed for the entire marketing segment. It is easy and delivers the message one at a time.

Email Preview:

Previews and test send works great when you want to check how your email looks like after sending it. In Dynamics 365 for Marketing, you can have 2 types of previews:

  1. Basic Preview: Which helps you to see how your email looks like in various devices such as mobiles, tablets, and desktops.
  2. Inbox Preview: This advanced preview option helps you to check how your email exactly looks in a wide variety of target email clients and platforms.

This feature holds significance because you can work on your emails before sending it to the target audience.

Analyze Result:

Analyzing results is not only confined to check the bounce rate and failed delivery address. But it is important to know how many of your contacts have open, click, and forward your mail.
This facility is available in Dynamics 365 for Marketing where you can know the result and analyze your mail. Moreover, one of the unique features it has is forward-to-a-friend. The forward-to-a-friend form helps to track all the email interactions of your message.
Moreover, it is possible to create your own custom analytics and reports from your Dynamics 365 Marketing data by using Power BI.

Customer Journey with target segments:

Once your email is live, it is active for the customer journey. The customer journey sets a target segment (i.e., a group of customers strategically selected) and works with that segment. You can set a trigger in a regular interval of time based on your requirements.
For example, you run an event campaign for the customer based in Mumbai. The customer journey then applies and triggers that separates contacts who sign-up for the event from who doesn’t. The people who have signed-up will move further in the customer journey such as receiving thank you emails or event details mail. But, for the people who have not opened the mail till the considerate time, they will receive a follow-up email for the registration. By this, you can keep track of your contacts in a more detail manner until they are qualified as a lead.
This is the major characteristic that makes this solution distinguish.

A/B Testing:

You create a pleasing design with great content, but it does not hit the correct chords of your customer, worth the hard work? No! You should always A/B test your mail with one or more designs on a small segment and check which email is worth sending to the rest of the customers. Moreover, a marketing team is also able to determine and optimize the email engagement rate by evaluating key performance factors.
These are the features that make Email Marketing in Dynamics 365 for Marketing to stand-out from other email service providers. From making your message go live before mailing, so segmenting your customers, and to perform A/B test, all aspects are included in this solution making your marketing crew loaf.
